NHL playoffs

I fancy Philadelphia if they can get past Sindy Crosby and his cronies.
GO FLYERS!

I don't think the commentator knows the mean of "prone," I would not follow him.

Did not see Philly swinging a game back like that!
3 games for Kadri.
And go Knights!

Clear elbow to the head of a prone player, he went knee to knee with Nash in the same game too, 2 games I reckon.

Show how much speed has changed the game. That would not have been a dangerous hit and certainly not an illegal one when I played.

Leafs took a pounding in their first play off game for ages, Kadri looking at a ban?

Just do what we did, blame L.A. for what McSorely became.

I know mate. But there is still a personal element which makes me want to forgive him.
My Dad coached McSorely in youth hockey. I later found out my Dad was on a team that was so violent it sparked a provincial inquiry. So, maybe that whole Brashear incident could be traced back to my Dad.

I think there is a big difference between an enforcer and a goon (not saying you are conflating the two).
Players like Semenko I can very much tolerate and respect.
Teams like the Flyers from 70s, not at all.
Yet oddly I am still rather fond of McSorely. Probably to do with meeting him when I was a kid and him being very nice, taking the time to talk to me and some of the other kids I was with.

The actual one true enforcer was "Cementhead" Semenko who sadly died last year.
Can any of those other guys say they stepped in the ring with Mohammed Ali? (even if it was a charity match) (And they all wore helmets their whole careers)
More seriously, to tie into Roeders Jacket 's comment, he was a huge part of those early 80s Oilers team. Gretzky was a wisp of a kid but Big Dave gave him the freedom to play in a league that was a lot rougher than it is now. Find Gretzky's eulogy to him online to see how important he was.
By the way, RJ, Gretzky met his actress wife Janet Jones after being traded/sold (very rare in NA sports) to L.A. It was the machinations of an evil owner (sound familiar) and the first great tragedy of my life.
Being able to see him live a fair few times before he left are some great memories.

I like the NHL; I've taken the lad to a few Capitals games. It's always great enertainment. What I don't like is the 20 minute intermission and the $10 charge for a can of Budweiser.

Haha, a bit of a blast from the past there.
That's true, but I think there are more than is usually thought, it is just a lot are journeymen no-namers.
The current big names I can think of are Brasher, Byfuglien, and Subban.
A recent favourite of mine was Johnny Oduya.
